September 5, 2019 -- Leonardo DRS Land Systems locations in St. Louis and West Plains, Mo., held their annual back-to-school drives in early August.
West Plains employees filled some 300 backpacks with school supplies that were distributed at various sites in the community. Employees also helped the Boys and Girls Club of Greater West Plains serve lunch to more than 80 students.
The St. Louis location donated more than 300 articles to the same nearby school, Our Lady of Guadalupe, that it supports in this fashion each year.
Several West Plains employees donated money, some $400 of which will help support a new program of the Boys and Girls Club. The Kinder Club is a half-day school program for 20 children of kindergarten age.
The employee donations have allowed the club to buy cots for the classroom. The club had been seeking a business or donor to underwrite the cost of outfitting the room with cots.
“We delivered the cots to the Boys and Girls Club, and they were beyond thrilled and so appreciative,” Jana Barton senior manager of human resources, said. “This was a really good deed made possible by the generosity of our employees.”
