October 24, 2019 -- One of Leonardo DRS’ core values is diversity, and the company prides itself on continuously working to build a well-rounded and inclusive workforce. Two employees have been collaborating to make that value a reality at the Melbourne, Fla campus, and that effort is not going unnoticed.
At the Brevard Achievement Center’s E2A (Employ, Empower: Achieve) awards ceremony, Robin Westervelt – a HR manager at the Melbourne campus – was recognized for her work as a board member on the South Brevard Society for Human Resource Management. Through this role, she has been persistent in connecting Leonardo DRS with Brevard Achievement Center to create job opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Westervelt worked with Dave Rickabaugh – director of operations and manufacturing support for the Melbourne NIS division – to identify ways in which Leonardo DRS could partner with Brevard Achievement Center and provide members of the organization with employment.
Brevard Achievement Center operates with a goal of providing those with disabilities with opportunities for personal success that they may not have had otherwise. The organization aids in transition from high school into higher education or the workplace and helping individuals acquire the skills to work and live on their own. Brevard Achievement Center also provides educational programs and is a champion for disability awareness.
Leonardo DRS considers energy-efficient facility operations and innovations among our highest priorities. It is in our culture to help our planet alongside our customers.
