November 6, 2017 -- Hurricane season was especially severe this year and four storms in particular ravaged parts of the United States and its territories. Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Jose and Maria caused tremendous damage across the southern U.S., Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, and Leonardo DRS employees stepped up to help in the aftermath.
Around the company, $25,000 was donated by DRS employees to various hurricane- charities. Leonardo DRS also established an initiative to help support those affected by providing a company match campaign to equal the amount of employee donations.
From DRS employee's efforts, the company will donate an additional $25,000 to relief efforts, bringing the total to $50,000 in support.
Leonardo DRS employees donated to causes across the board from the American Red Cross to the Salvation Army, the Houston Food Bank, OneStar Foundation, and Direct Relief among many others. The $25,000 company match will be donated to the American Red Cross.
Another Leonardo DRS employee spearheaded an effort to collect and deliver much-needed donations and supplies to hard-hit areas in Houston and Florida.
Company CEO, Bill Lynn said early on in the employee relief efforts, “I am proud that our employees have demonstrated some wonderful deeds and acts of charity and citizenship in the wake of these incredibly difficult times.”
