Leonardo T-100 T-X Trainer Aircraft

T-100 Team Member on U.S. Air Force Training Program will be Keynote Speaker at Military Flight Training Conference

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA, December 4, 2017 -- The T-100 Integrated Training System team partners, Leonardo DRS, CAE USA and Honeywell, announced today that Michael Lewis of CAE USA will be a keynote speaker discussing integrated Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) flight training at the 2017 Military Flight Training USA Summit on December 7th in San Antonio, Texas.

More on the T-100 announcement

A 20-year veteran U.S. Air Force pilot with experience in flight training and combat operations, Lewis will overview the critical need for LVC training that links aircraft and ground simulation to better prepare pilots, save government money and enable a safer training environment.  Lewis is currently the Director of Business Development and Training Solutions for CAE USA, where he supports the U.S. Department of Defense and various international military customers for complete LVC training solutions, including the Leonardo M-346 program which is the base platform of the T-100.

Integrated LVC flight training is a key element in the U.S. Air Force T-X advanced pilot training competition. Using LVC, a pilot flying a trainer jet can engage in an exercise with other pilots flying as wingmen in ground-based simulators. Sensor data from the simulators is sent to the aircraft providing a shared constructive training scenario for both live and virtual aircraft.

Live Virtual Constructive training provides a state-of-the-art safer training environment for multiple new 5th-generation pilots to train together, while reducing operational costs of numerous daily sorties.

CAE USA is leading the ground-based training and LVC effort for the T-100 program.  It is the most advanced and globally-proven LVC training solution for trainer aircraft operating today, featuring a cutting-edge cockpit-embedded tactical training simulation that integrates with multiple aircraft and ground-based simulators. This proven system is ready for the T-100 program having consistently demonstrated its effectiveness, producing skilled pilots around the world.

The Military Flight Training USA conference, on December 7th – 8th in San Antonio, TX., will focus on military pilot training and bring together an audience of policy makers, military leaders and industry executives from the U.S. and  around the world.
