ARLINGTON, VA, October 14, 2019 ̶ Leonardo DRS Inc., announced today that it will grant up to $10,000 in contributions to help military families deal with breast cancer. The company’s exhibit stand at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) expo in Washington, DC, will go “pink” Tuesday, October 15, to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month and encourage event participants to join the effort and recognize friends and relatives who have battled this disease.
In partnership with the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF), Leonardo DRS is sponsoring a “Stick It to Breast Cancer” fundraiser at the AUSA trade show. The goal is to raise money for the Look Good, Feel Better program in Bethesda, Maryland. The program gives active and retired military men, women and family members affected by breast cancer an improved quality of life as they undergo and recuperate from cancer treatment.
To participate, AUSA show attendees can pick up a copy of the Defense News Show Daily on Tuesday with a breast cancer awareness sticker on the front cover. If attendees place the sticker on a recognition wall at the Leonardo DRS exhibit stand, adding the name of a loved one who has been touched by breast cancer, Leonardo DRS will donate ten dollars to HJF to support the Look Good, Feel Better program, up to the $10,000 limit.
“The Look Good, Feel Better program is an excellent benefit to patients who are dealing with an immense level of physical and mental stress,” said HJF President and CEO Dr. Joseph Caravalho. “We greatly appreciate the contribution Leonardo DRS is making to enable HJF to support healing and research.”
“We are proud to partner with Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine to help members of the military and their families deal with breast cancer,” said William J. Lynn, Leonardo DRS CEO. “We are pleased to help a big-hearted program which has a positive impact on people’s lives.”
The Look Good Feel Better program is a non-medical public service that teaches beauty techniques to people with breast cancer to help them manage the appearance-related side effects of treatment. The program includes lessons on skin and nail care, cosmetics, wigs and turbans, accessories and styling, helping people with cancer to find some normalcy in a life that is by no means normal.
Look for representatives handing out Defense News Show Dailies on October 15th in the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, as well as in the newsstands around the convention center for the Leonardo DRS cover-wrap and help support this worthy cause.
