Leonardo DRS to deliver P5 training subsystems

November 21, 2018 -- Leonardo DRS has received a contract from Cubic Global Defense to deliver more than 500 P5 combat training system (P5CTS) internal subsystems for the F-35 Lightning II air combat training system, the company announced on 16 November.

Leonardo DRS’ airborne and intelligence systems business unit designs, produces and supports the P5CTS internal subsystems component of the F-35's air combat training system.

The P5CTS internal subsystems enable real-time, live monitoring and recorded mission data of air-to-air, air-to-ground and surface-to-air training scenarios for both real-time training and post-mission analysis. Unlike the wing-mounted P5CTS pods, the internal subsystem is placed inside the F-35.

The P5CTS subsystems will be delivered to Cubic Corporation over the next four years as part of Lockheed Martin’s F-35 production Lots 12-14.
